Message from the President

Toshiba began manufacturing transformers essential for power supply in 1894, developed the first domestic product two-phase induction motor (industrial motor) the following year and has a history of 130 years.

In addition, Mie O­ice was established as a production base in western Japan in 1938 and started manufacturing small electric motors.

In the following year, we began manufacturing medium-sized electric motors and then began manufacturing small distribution transformers in the next year, 1940.

We have evolved to meet the needs of the times and continued to create a prosperous society with customers.

Recently, we have been expanding the product range to meet the labor-saving needs of the times such as FA equipment, Industrial Lithium-Ion Batteries SCiB™, and Drive Motor for hybrid/electric vehicles.

And now, it has become essential to realize carbon neutrality and a circular economy for the sustainable future of people and the earth.

We have launched sales of the "Synchronous Reluctance Motor," which meets IE5, the highest efficiency class.

We have also begun manufacturing and selling distribution transformers that comply with the tertiary criteria for top runner transformers.

As new initiatives, we have released a motor acoustic analysis application and begun using biomass-derived polycarbonate resin in our cast resin transformers.

In addition, we also received high praise for manufacturing with the Mie O ice being the first industrial/social infrastructure business to receive the Good Factory Management Award from the Japan Management Association in 2024.
